first bloody injury

We had another first this past weekend. Isabelle's first injury with lots of blood! We don't know exactly what happened but she either tripped over Harley (our cocker spaniel) or she tried sitting on him and he got up and knocked her over. Either way, when she fell, she hit her mouth and cut her lip. We were pretty freaked out at first because we had no idea if it was her tooth, her tongue, or her lip/cheek. After a couple bloody tissues, and a cold washcloth, the bleeding slowed enough that we could see that it was just a cut lip. It really wasn't too bad at all but if you know mouth injuries, you know they BLEED. It's scary enough if it's your own mouth but to see your child's mouth bleed like that, it's the worst. Isabelle chewed/sucked on her purple washcloth for a bit while we snuggled on the couch to watch her 1st birthday video.

Yes, her FIRST birthday video. Johnas finally got it finished and made copies for the grandparents so we were watching the final copy. Isabelle loves seeing herself on the TV.

It really got me thinking. The first year went by quickly. There was always a new milestone that was just around the corner. She learned so much. But, the second year... Where did it go? We just celebrated her second birthday and watching that video from the year before made me remember it like it was just a couple weeks ago. How did that whole year go by without anyone noticing?

There aren't as many milestones in the second year but there is obviously a huge change from October, excuse me November (is it November already?), of last year. Language being probably the most prominent and most fun. I love hearing Isabelle talk. She had about 3 words last year around this time. Now, I can't even count how many she knows. She speaks in little sentences. She sings. The itsy bitsy spider, Twinkle Twinkle, No more monkeys jumping on the bed, etc. I even caught her signing along with Lady Gaga's Paparazzi in the car.

Seriously, everyone tells you that the first year goes by quickly but no one warns you about the second year. This is my warning to all you parents of less than 1 year olds THE SECOND YEAR GOES BY WAY TOO QUICKLY!

I can't believe my little "baby" can be starting 4K in just 2 years.
