Well other than this:
and this:
Every time a new month rolls around, I think "Seriously, how can it be (insert month here)?" Really. How is it August already? But at the same time, July 1st seems like it was forever ago. I have poor concept of time, I guess. But really, July kind of flew. I posted very little in July. I have posts that I've started and never finished, including a blogger award from Amanda. I've started lots of posts in my head too but forget by the time I get to a computer to type them up. I was going to post about "the things we did on maternity leave" but I think that's going to turn into a "the things we did this summer" post since summer is nearly over. Usually by the end of August, I'm itching to get my fall decor up (we'll see about that this year. It's buried deep in our under-the-stairs storage. I don't know if I'll have the will to dig it out). That's just a few weeks away! And September means apple picking time! And I'm already planning Isabelle's birthday party. Eeee!
I don't want to forget things. Noelle is almost 4 months old already. Isabelle will be 3 in about 2 months. So watch for a what we did this summer post, the I can't believe it's September, October, etc posts, a recipe (or two) review, and whatever else I find time to squeeze in before my kids go to college!
So, a few of my favorite things:
My Starbucks reloadable giftcard.
This is a great way for me to budget "specialty drinks" into our monthly expenses. I can load x amount onto my card at the beginning of the month and then use it all in one day if I so choose or use it approximately once a week which is what I've been doing. Do you have a "usual" that you always order? I like to change it up frequently but I always notice that some people just walk in the door and the barista starts making their drink. I call those "regulars". My go-to, however, is a tall cafe latte. Just simple - no sugars, sweeteners, flavorings. Some days I need a grande though. I also like iced coffee (which I do sweeten) with milk and frappuccinos in the summer. In the winter when I want something heavier, I'll sometimes get a mocha (with peppermint when I'm feeling festive). Want your own Starbucks giftcard? Go over to tales from the crib before August 8th to enter for a chance to win one!
Groupon
I've purchased 3 groupons since signing up in June. I have yet to use any of them but 2 of them are for food so I assure you they will not go unused. All that I've purchased are no less than 50% off the face value. In total, when I use them all, I'll have saved $113! (which you'll see in my savings posts when I use them) Use my referral link so I can get $10 groupon bucks when you sign up and make your first purchase, then invite your friends and get $10!
This ring
My great aunt passed away and had a box full of rings for Mom and I to go through. I saw this one that has opals and diamonds - my childrens' birthstones! It may or may not be real but it's perfect. PS I don't have vitiligo, it just looks like it for some reason.
My 50mm f/1.8 lens (with my camera, of course), Photoshop, the CoffeeShop blog, and my designer friends at work
I like to pretend I can take a decent photo and I really like my new lens. For less than $100, I think it's a great investment - a lens that may be upgraded sometime in the future but for now I love it. Photoshop and the awesome free actions at CoffeeShop help me spruce up some of those photos, and my designer friends at work helped me design Isa's birthday invites. I'm pretty proud of them even though they may not be professional-grade.
